PART II: WHICH BROWSER DOES THE GOOD JOB? MICROSOFT EXPLORER OR MSN EXPLORER?
This
delivery is a continuation of the post available here
Internet Explorer
"authorizes" developers to install Adds-On that are also called Browser
Helper Objects - BHOs.
Some BHOs are helpful, like branded Toolbars
from Yahoo, Google or MSN. Some are dangerous especially those planted into your
system by viruses or spyware or dropped into your system when you pay a visit
to a Rogue Site. (You may type Rogue Site inside the web search field at
the left panel to review what people are saying about Rogue Sites.)
There
is an utility set by Microsoft to manage Adds-on that is available in Internet
Explorer Menu: Select 1- Tools then 2 - Manage Adds-On and then
Disable or Enable Adds-on
Said utility is useful when you need
to get rid of an Add-on for which the developer had not allowed an uninstaller.
However, said utility does not impede the installation of an Add-on when you
visit a Rogue Site by inadvertence. (You may be led to a Rogue Site without
willing to do so if you made an Internet search and got a Rogue Site URL in the
listing!)

MAKE USE OF A THIRD CLIENT UTILITY TO MANAGE ADDS-ON TO MICROSOFT
INTERNET EXPLORER
There is a third client utility that helps
manage Adds-On to Microsoft Internet Explorer and that also impede the installation
of an Add-on if you do visit a rogue site by inadvertence.: BHODemon (Browser
Helper Objects Deamon).
BHODeamon gives you a quick look at the BHOs installed
on your PC, tells you whether a specific BHO is known to be safe or harmful, and
gives you the ability to enable or disable individual BHOs with a single mouse
click.
Further, it seats in the status bar and monitors your surfing.
If any rogue site try to drop a BHO to your system you are warned to take action
and stop the intruder.
BHODeamon is free to download from securityXploded.com
If
you care for your computing security and wish to be the real king of your desktop
you need to have Ad-
Aware PRO that features Ad-Watch installed.
That way, Ad-Watch will warn you of any attempt to alter your Registry.
You may visit Eric
L. Howes Guide to Anti-Spyware to collect more information on how to fight
against the invasion of Spyware, Malware, BHO and the likes.
For more
on how to protect your IE browser from intrusion and keep it performing well visit
this page that is dedicated to anything concerning Microsoft Internet Explorer.
